Miking Technique
Music is subjective. So is recording. You have to use your
ears and be willing to try different mics and techniques
to get the sound you're looking for. Sometimes just moving
the mic a little or angling it slightly will greatly alter
the recorded sound. Before you record anything you should
find the sound you're looking for with the right mic and
mic placement. Sometimes that can mean using more than one
mic (there's just no such thing as one mic that's perfect
for everything). Of course, in times of crucial live recordings
or bootstrap band budget recording, you might want to stick
with your tried and true method, as long as it sounds good.
